About Kotoba

Kotoba is an application developed by Ward W. Vuillemot. At present this a labor of passion; however, he (me) has some big(ish) plans for it.

Features

Japanese → English, English → Japanese Dictionary

There are already a number of Japanese English dictionaries out there built upon the fearsome power of JMdict/EDICT; Kotoba is no different.

But Kotoba is not about being a dictionary; it is about what you do with the words once you have them. And that is what? Learn them, of course!

Study Lists

Tired of flash-card programs that require you to enter in all your vocabulary, characters and grammer? Wouldn't it just be nice to flag words in a dictionary to start building your study list? You can with Kotoba!

And if you are like me, you may have many study lists ith the same things in them. In other programs you are forced to copy and paste between lists, something that can really become a pain. Kotoba allows you to use a word in as many study lists as you would like.

Word Builder

Kotoba tracks your performance learning the different aspects of Japanese words, keeping track of your performance over-time. As you progress, Kotoba will automatically adjust itself to ensure you are exposed to words you require assistance with, while still maintaining your performance words already mastered.

Additionally, powerful charting and graphing features will allow you to better understand what specifically are your strengths and weaknesses.

Student Teacher

As a teacher you will be able to monitor your students' progress, providing each of them help tailored to areas where they need improvement.

As a student you will be able to focus on building your vocabulary while receiving the combined help of Kotoba and your teacher.
